Duties: Moving furniture and goods consistently while making sure that you take care not to scratch, dent or break any items. Movers must be able to carefully and efficiently wrap and pack household goods to prevent damage while moving. Ability to assemble and disassemble furniture. Movers compile inventories of goods and often complete bills of lading for customers. Special dollies are used for navigating stairs and tight areas particularly for heavy items or goods. Movers are responsible for the actual loading and unloading of furniture and goods, but some are also responsible for driving the moving trucks. Movers who are drivers keep track of mileage and fuel purchases.


Education Requirements: High school diploma or GED, Moving is a physically demanding job, so you must be in good physical condition and able to lift heavy objects repeatedly over periods of many hours.

Additional requirements: Pleasant and respectful personality, works well with others, Must be able to work flexible hours and occasional late hours, Be available to work Monday through Sunday, holidays and be able to work in the rain, humidity, cold and snow if required.

Be punctual, dependable, patient, responsible and energetic, no smoking or drinking during work hours and be able to work well with older clients.

Skills: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, detail oriented and organized.

Tools Needed: screwdriver, phillps head screwdriver, allen wrench, pliers, hammer, scissors and blade.
